TIDBITES SAGA:

COSMOPOLITAN GRILL, REHOBOTH BEACH

My friend, Bill, and his brother, Bobby, called me and wanted to go to dinner last night. It would be good to see them. While Bill lives in DC, he just got a condo in Rehoboth! I suggested the Cosmopolitan Grill as I've been eager to try it. It's in the old Mano's space on Wilmington Avenue.

Entering was a disappointment: sterile, bare tables, no customers.

The waiter was excellent but the food left me despondent. I had Green Tomato Caprese Salad and Veal Marsala. Neither was exceptional AND expensive.

We left dissatisfied. Bobby didn't even want to leave a tip! It was a good visit though.

I'll not return.

Only saving grace was an ice cream cone on the fun Boardwalk.

I always look forward to your views of the new restaurants (and old ones too) in the area. I'm sorry you had a disappointed experience at the Cosmopolitan Grille in Rehoboth. I've heard of it and was wondering what it was like. Yours is the first experience I've heard about. Bob C. and I had another good meal at the Bay Leaf in Milton. Super!

How disappointing! After a similar experience at another new restaurant on Wilmington (Tuscan Grille) I'm beginning to wonder why these people think they can serve mediocre food and charge a pretty penny for it.

I was wondering about the Tuscan Grill. I love Italian! Thanks for the heads up! I'm doing a blog series called FAVORITE DE BEACH RESTAURANTS SAGA. They are scheduled to appear staring Dec. 20th. (I've got blogs scheduled well into 2012.) Tomorrow night I'm going to one of my favorites: Venus On The Half Shell in Dewey.

I'm so sorry you had a terrible time. I hope it didn't ruin your evening.

I was there more than a week ago on Monday night when they had a pianist and had wonderful meal and great service and the place was packed. The bar stools at the bar were completely filled, to boot. I had the Ahi Tuna.

Purely on your recommendation, i'll try it on a Sunday or Monday night!

Be sure to call and see if the pianist is, in fact, there before going a second time. Also, read Foodie's review. Foodie gave it 5 stars out of 5 but gave the food a 4 -- the 5 was for the fact it cost less than other restaurants plus the service and atmosphere.

I enjoy your restaurant reviews! Do you review on YELP as well

No, I don't. How do you do that?
